Job Description:
All aspects of medical coding, billing, and collections.
Review coding before posting to ensure that the proper ICD-10, place of service codes, modifiers, procedure CPT, and visit CPT codes have been assigned to optimize clean claim submission.
Communicate with the responsible physician if any documentation needs to be amended.
Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies either electronically or on paper.
Follow-up with the clearinghouse and payers regarding denials or rejections.
Report denials and rejections to the Practice Administrator so that systematic coding improvements can be implemented.
Research rejected claims and/or codes and present solutions to the Practice Administrator.
Stay up to date on coding and billing changes and communicate them with the Practice Administrator so that systematic coding improvements can be implemented.
Prepare, review, and send patient statements.
Perform collection calls and handle incoming calls from patients regarding their account.
Post payments received from patients and insurance companies.
Answer questions from the patients, clerical staff, and insurance companies.
Identify and resolve patient billing complaints.
Evaluate patient's financial status and establish payment plans.
Follow and report status of delinquent accounts.
Review accounts for possible assignment to collections agency; make recommendations to the Practice Administrator and prepare applicable information.
Handle business and insurance carrier correspondence and reply promptly.
Participate in weekly meetings to review days in AR, insurance and patient, CCR, charges vs receipts, and any other relevant topics.
Analyze accounts receivable and follow up with effective, timely phone calls and collection letters.
Initiate and maintain physician credentialing for insurance companies.
Train newly hired biller/collectors.
EDUCATION AND
Experience:
High School graduate or GED, some college preferred Prior medical billing experience Intermediate Computer Literacy AVAILABLE SCHEDULE:
M-F 10am-6pm.
